The Homes They Are A Changing.

What are green homes? Quite simply, better quality, more comfortable, more efficient homes with appealing elements that attract new home buyers. Read on to see what elements make a home green, and what is on the horizon in the green home market.

The Green Appraisal Form
As of October 7th, 2011; The Appraisal Institute is looking at a home's energy efficiency to find a home's true market value. Curious? You can explore the form here. More news to follow.

The Greening of the MLS
Prompted by home-buyer demand, several cities in Southern California have created a Green MLS that list green elements now found in homes for sale. More homeowners and home professionals are moving in a green direction through the support of non-profit organizations like Build it Green, Stop Waste.org, and the NAR Green Council. Over the next year, The AAOR®/ Green Council will be working with the Bay Area Regional Green Council to help create a Bay Area MLS with green elements highlighted.

Government incentives are here!
Energy Upgrade California is now offering up to $4000 in energy upgrade rebates and up to $1000 in green label rebates to homeowners in certain counties. Real estate agents can also get up to a $200 referral fee for any project they refer that results in a green label.

Our goal is to to be your resource.

To keep you updated and educated on what is happening. To keep you aware of what is green on the horizon, as well as a general framework you'll need to know in "Green 101".

The Green Council/ Alameda Association of Realtors® was formed in May of 2011 to educate Alameda REALTORS on the coming trends and funding for green buyers and properties. Our goal is to help Alameda lead the way and be on the forefront of the changes that are happening in our community and the world.
